Keith Glass Band – Stepping On My Blues
Release: May 6, 2022

Canadian guitarist, composer, Canadian Country Award and JUNO Award-winning musician Keith Glass (Prairie Oyster, Lynn Miles) mastered the art of playing the side person a long time ago, so to hear him front and centre on his new album Different World is a sonic treat to fans old and new. Fans can purchase or stream Stepping On My Blues and the full album Different World on May 6th, 2022 on all streaming platforms.

In Stepping On My Blues, the second single from the full-length album, a swampy blues number opens with a jaw harp solo before the band settles into a laid back groove with a quiet intensity mirroring the lyrical tendency to see trouble around every corner. The rest of the album is full of world-class songwriting, soulful guitars, superb arrangements, and deep grooves.

An award-winning singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and founding member of Prairie Oyster – often cited as the country’s foremost roots/country band – Keith has earned much critical acclaim, including multiple Juno and CCMA awards, and toured extensively in Canada, the U.S. and Europe over a career that has spanned almost four decades. In 2008, he was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame for his work with Prairie Oyster, and is a recipient of a SOCAN Songwriter’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Member Release: Moonfruits

Moonfruits – Atoms of the Apartment
Release: April 29, 2022

Moving from a grungy ’90s electric guitar to a vibrant crescendo of strings, horns, and synths, ‘Atoms of the Apartment’ follows the thread of the charming vocal interplay between Moonfruits partners Kaitlin Milroy and Alex Millaire – with a lesson in quantum physics as well.

On tour with a sleepy bandmate (Kaitlin) and a broken car radio, Alex’s mind wandered to ‘The Drama of the Universe’, an uncracked 70s era coffee table book borrowed from his grandparents-in-law. Billions of years of history dorkily divided into the acts of an opera. This percolated, and a nerdy, upbeat love song to their apartment took root.

Co-produced by Moonfruits and Charles & Olivier Fairfield (drums); featuring the talents of Liv Cazzola (mission organ, synth), Tobias Meis (double bass), Kelly Lefaive (violin), and Brian Sanderson (horns); and recorded at nCode Studio in Ottawa, ‘Atoms of the Apartment’ is Moonfruits’ driving, chamber-orchestra-backed, kaleidoscopic ode to the quirks and quarks of home – the first single off their upcoming album, Salt.

Member Release: Abigail Lapell

FMO MEMBER RELEASE!

Abigail Lapell – Stolen Time
Release: April 22, 2022

Toronto songwriter Abigail Lapell returns with Stolen Time, her elemental and powerfully evocative third album. Produced by Howard Bilerman at Montreal’s hotel2tango, Stolen Time feels unhurried, psychedelic and otherworldly in the vein of Gillian Welch or Karen Dalton. A theme of recovery runs through the album, with songs about becoming sober, or a partner’s sudden illness, exploring the cycle of rehabilitation and relapse.

An eclectic cast of musicians underscores the power of Lapell’s vocals on live-off-the-floor, 70s folk-rock arrangements featuring bass, drums, horns, strings and steel. But many of Stolen Time’s standout tracks are solo guitar or piano songs, backed by little more than ghostly accordion or harmonica. The result is Lapell’s most ambitious and confident album to date.

Over the past five years and two spellbinding albums, Lapell has garnered two Canadian Folk Music Awards, hit number one on Canadian folk radio and accrued a staggering 16 million+ Spotify streams while touring widely across Canada, the United States and Europe.

Stolen time is out April 22, 2022 on Outside Music. The release will be supported by tour dates and festivals across Canada, including Toronto album launch Friday June 24th at the Dakota Tavern.

FMO MEMBER RELEASE!

Shannon Linton – At the End of The World
Release: April 15, 2022

At the End of the World is the next single off Shannon’s debut EP, In Spite of Everything, releasing late spring.

At the End of the World was written in a one room, off-grid cabin surrounded by fields of wild aster and goldenrod. It was a place I could imagine myself happy and thriving when everything has crumbled away. The song is about the small miracles of love and nature that will pull us through in spite of everything.

Stay tuned for tour and album release info coming soon.
