Since November of 2013, I have been the booking agent of the folk duo, The Marrieds. What really attracted me to their music was that perfect balance of pop, folk, and country, with clever lyrics, catchy songs, and sweet harmonies. It was a pretty exciting time for them as they embarked on a southern Ontario tour that encompassed more than 30 venues over seven months. A nomination for Vocal Group of the Year at the 2014 Canadian Folk Music Awards capped an outstanding year for them. The Marrieds released their latest CD, Fire in the Flame, on June 25, 2016 at Aeolian Hall in London ON. The band's website is at: The Marrieds .

I had the occasion to book Sweet Alibi for a private showcase at the OCFF Conference in October of 2013. What always impressed me about the band was how they infused their signature harmonies with influences of everything from folk to country to soul, without a hint of shame. I really enjoyed their music and was looking for an opportunity to reconnect with them. As luck would have it, they were looking for someone to help fill out their southern Ontario tour for June of 2014. It was a real pleasure booking for them. In fact, things worked out so well from that small booking experience that I started booking for the band full-time as of October of 2014. The band celebrated a win for Roots Group Recording of the Year at the 2014 Western Canadian Music Awards and a nomination for Vocal Group of the Year at the 2014 Canadian Folk Music Awards. The band released their newest CD, Walking in the Dark, in November of 2015 (Juno award-winning producer, Murray Pulver). I had many opportunities to see Jenie Thai perform, most notably at the Folk Music Ontario conferences in 2014 and 2015. What was always so apparent from Jenie’s appearances was the incredible energy and power of those performances, the beauty and range of her voice, and the absolute mastery of the piano. Initial work with Jenie on some folk festival booking led to more extensive tour booking in later 2015. Jenie celebrated a nomination for new artist of the year at the 2016 Maple Blues Awards. Jenie’s website is at: Jenie Thai.

I first met Jadea Kelly when I was hosting an open mike in Uxbridge ON in early 2005. It was one of Jadea's earliest performances. Over the ensuing years, I caught various performances, and picked up Jadea's CD's as she released them. While I was booking Sweet Alibi's 2017 fall tour, the band's manager inquired if I would be interested in making some of the band's shows a co-bill with one of his other clients, Jadea Kelly. This initial successful booking experience led to an offer from the manager to handle all of Jadea's Canadian bookings. Who could have predicted that such a chance meeting twelve years earlier would plant the seed for a full time booking position. Jadea's musical career has definitely proceeded in leaps and bounds, and culminated with a win for Contemporary Singer of the Year at the 2016 Canadian Folk Music Awards.
