“Photography speaks a language of light and dark and all in-between. I am still learning new ways to understand and interpret that language and hope you enjoy me sharing my photographic journey with you." - Brita Brookes Photography
Brita Brookes Photography is a photographer and graphic designer who specializes in live music, concert, festival photography. Brita is based in Detroit but travels extensively through Canada & the USA to shoot live events whether on media assignment or freelance. Her favorite genres include jazz, folk, blues, rock, alternative & indie but she is open to all forms of music & entertainment as a supporter of the arts. Her photo style is based greatly on a keen sense of composition with attention to capturing one of a kind emotion shown by the subject in a performance. She is influenced by photographers before her who shot the historical Newport Folk Festival, Woodstock, the Classic Rock Era and the Jazz greats.
Her main reason to join Folk Music Ontario was to support the artists in the membership & to find out about great festivals, gigs, bands, musicians to watch though her lens. She hopes to continue to grow her knowledge base & network, so she can continue to evolve in her art form which in the end, helps promote the artists/bands in the photos. Her work has been published upon their request by Bob Margolin, Pierre Bensusan, La Bottine Souriante and Kim Beggs.
She is completing a graphic design degree and envisions using her photo art with her graphic art to work on promotional and publishing assignments related to music and arts.
