He was introduced to music at a very young age, and recalls harmonizing with his mother when singing You Are My Sunshine during family road trips. He has attended numerous songwriting workshops including SongStudio (formerly known as the Humber Songwriting Workshop) and has taken courses to constantly expand his songwriting skills.
For close to 2 years, Matt lived and worked in Sydney Australia, during which time he honed his performing skills and learned to embrace his own quirky personality. It was during this period that he recorded his first CD project Aint That Dandy!. His goal is to create music that is interesting and entertaining, both lyrically and musically. As an artist he hopes that the listener will be drawn into the music and will appreciate the different layers. His approach to songwriting is to stay playful and to maintain a sense of curiosity about life.
Matt currently resides in Toronto, where he remains active in the local music scene. He is looking forward to the release of a kids album in 2017. Some of Matts influences include Johnny Cash, They Might Be Giants, Radiohead and Ron Sexsmith.
