Judith Cohen

Singer, storyteller, ethnomusicologist: Judith Cohen is both an old-school folkie who loves informal interaction with audiences, and an internationally recognized academic with a doctorate in ethnomusicology and a masters in medieval studies. A specialist in Sephardic music, she presents in Spanish, Portuguese, French and English, and sings in all these languages, as well as Balkan Slavic languages, Yiddish, and Medieval Romance languages. Judith is the Editor/Consultant for the Alan Lomax Spain Recordings 1952. Judith teaches part-time at York University, and regularly travels to sing, do fieldwork and give talks in Spain, Portugal, Morocco, the Balkans, Turkey, Israel and wherever else the music and stories take her.
