Doug Cox is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and music programmer living on Vancouver Island.
He is well known for his skills on the dobro and slide guitar. Cox was the first person from Canada to perform in Slovakia's Dobrofest and the first Dobro player to be featured at the Montral Jazz Festival. His skills are boundless and has lead him to play with an incredible array of musicians including, Ellen McIlwaine, David Essig, Vishwa Mohan & Salil Bhatt, Long John Baldry, Amos Garrett and Chuck Brodsky to literally name a few.
Doug has earned innumerable raves, from the BBC’s Bob Harris to magazines such as Guitar Player, he has received many awards including a Juno nomination and nods from Acoustic Guitar and Downbeat Magazines in their 'top CDs of the year' lists.
And more than just a performer, Doug is deeply embedded in the entire world of music. Aside from regularly teaching at music camps in Alaska, Texas, and England, he is also the producer and artistic director of Vancouver Island MusicFest, which is closing in on its 23rd year and has long been one of Canada’s most popular and respected music events.
