The 30th Anniversary Folk Music Ontario Conference was held at the Delta Ottawa City Centre in Ottawa, ON from October 20-23, 2016. We had a record number of volunteers this year – over 100 helped to keep the conference running! Thanks to all who volunteered.
Volunteers assisted in several areas (e.g. registration, exhibit hall, instrument lock-up, room monitors, etc.). They all attended a mandatory orientation session at the host hotel, and committed to at least three 4-hour volunteer shifts (i.e., 12 hours volunteering in total). In exchange, they received complimentary conference registration and a volunteer t-shirt.
If you are interested in volunteering at the 31st annual conference next October 19-22 at the Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel & Suites in Mississauga, please review the list of volunteer job descriptions and requirements (PDF), and the specific instructions for registration area volunteers (PDF) and room monitors (PDF).
On the volunteer application, you will be asked to indicate all volunteer jobs and shifts for which you could be available. When the preliminary conference schedule is published (usually in mid- to late summer), you can use it to figure out your availability at the conference. You will be scheduled for twelve hours’ work (unless you have indicated that you are willing to work more than the minimum). The more flexible your availability is, the more likely we will be able to accommodate your preferences.
IMPORTANT: Names, phone numbers and email addresses of TWO character references must be provided in the application form.
Folk Music Ontario will launch volunteer applications for the 31st annual conference in late summer 2017.
**Please note that a limited number of volunteers are required for the conference, and not all applicants will necessarily be selected as volunteers. Anyone who applies by the application deadline that is not selected as a volunteer will still be entitled to the conference registration rate that was in effect as of the deadline for one week after notification.
