2017 EKA recipient Magoo

FMO Presents Indigenous Showcase

FMO will present its first Indigenous showcase, featuring six artists of First Nations, Métis and Inuit heritage:

Leonard Sumner
Nick Sherman
Quantum Tangle
Shy-Anne Hovorka
William Prince

The Indigenous showcase, generously funded by FACTOR, will take place on Saturday, October 22 from 2:30-4:30pm in the Capitale room of the Delta Ottawa City Centre.

Conference registration open

FMO members (with membership valid through October 31, 2016) can register for the conference at the rate of $479.60, and non-members at a rate of $598.25.

Sudbury singer-songwriter workshop

Are you an emerging singer-songwriter in the Sudbury area seeking to learn more about songwriting tips and techniques? Folk Music Ontario, the Association des professionnels de la chanson et de la musique (APCM), Collège Boréal and Coalition du savoir invite you to a free singer-songwriter workshop on March 23, 2016 with mentors Stef Paquette and darlenYa, generously funded by the Ontario Arts Council.

darlenYa, an international performer/songwriter, uses travelling as her muse, recently completing 25 years with the road as her home. Her music reflects her calling to be a cultural ambassador to the many lands, cultures and people that have inspired her growth. Her lyrics speak of colourful characters and to the issues of our times, embodying a positive attitudes towards change with infectious melodies and rhythms.

Stef Paquette est natif de Chelmsford en Ontario. Il est plus reconnu pour sa carrière comme auteur-compositeur-interprète, mais il est également champion d’improvisation, comédien à la télévision et compositeur musical pour le théâtre. Son nom est rattaché à plusieurs projets dont Improtéine, TFO 24.7, Motel Monstre (TFO), Hard Rock Medical (TVO) et Love is in the Birds (Théâtre du Trillium), pour n’en nommer que quelques-uns.

Le Musique Folk de l’Ontario (MFO), l’Association des professionnels de la chanson et de la musique (APCM), Collège Boréal, et le Coalition du savoir vous invitent à participer à un atelier d’écriture gratuite le 23 mars 2016 avec deux professionnels du milieu des arts, Stef Paquette et darlenYa, généreusement financé par le Conseil des arts de l’Ontario.

FMO office closure

The FMO office will be closed a couple of times over the next several weeks:

  • Friday, Jan. 29 – reopening 9am, Tuesday, Feb. 9
  • Wednesday, Feb. 17 – reopening 9am, Monday, Feb. 22

We will be monitoring email during the second closure. In the event of an emergency from Jan. 29-Feb. 8, please email FMO Board President Rachel Barreca.
